What OSE stands for

The Organisation pro Software Escrow (OSE) is an association of companies and individuals who use or provide services and consulting in the field of source code escrow. Founded in Munich in 2005, the association aims to pool expertise in this area and raise awareness within the IT industry about the importance of escrow. Since its founding, OSE has worked to explain the fundamentals of source code escrow, offer guidance on escrow models in light of emerging technologies, and develop quality standards.
Through its symposia, the association actively contributes to the public discourse on appropriate legal frameworks for software escrow in Germany and helps establish greater legal certainty in the field.

“Going digital with a bang” was the motto of the 2021 symposium, which took place as an online “live” event.

Association goals

The purpose of the association is to comprehensively promote software escrow (i.e. the deposit of source code), with a focus on representing the interests of both users and providers of escrow services, as well as consulting firms working in this area.
